Brunei remains connected with the rest of the world through the SEA-ME-WE3 Submarine Cable System at Tungku Submarine Cable Station.
The SEA ME WE3 has a total capacity of 2,634,214 Miu*km with at least 80% of this capacity open for further utilisation.
This link is diversified and backed up through a land based transmission system, the Trans-Borneo Optical Fibre System; as well as the Intelsat Satellite Network and a new teleport at Telesai Earth Station, which sustains highly reliable international services via satellite while simultaneously providing back up and alternative telecommunication services via submarine cable system.
In further enhancing international connectivity, the Government of Brunei has invested approximately USD 40,000,000 in the Asia America Gateway (AAG) Submarine Cable System which was completed in 2010.
The AAG Submarine Cable System will be the first direct terabit (one trillion bytes) submarine cable network between Southeast Asia and the United States spanning over 20,000 km.
Brunei is one of the landing stations with allocated capacity of 20,000 MIU*point.

The Brunei Government has allocated the ICT sector a total of B$1,146 million or 12.1% of the overall National Development Plan 2007-2012 budget.
This includes B$210 million to further enhance the human capacity building and B$185 million to further develop SMEs in the country.

PROJECT UPDATE
The iCentre, Brunei Darussalam's first ICT incubator, is the first phase of the Business and Technology Park that the BEDB is developing to support local business and technology development.
At the iCentre a number of bright young entrepreneurs are developing innovative ideas helping to bring Made-in-Brunei technology overseas.
Current projects in development at the iCentre include mobile communications content and software, barcode and Radio-Frequency Identification (RFID) applications, software development and public portal development.

The iCentre is a declaration of Brunei's commitment to nurturing our potential in business services.
As Brunei's first ICT incubator, it is focused on developing local SMEs in the field of information and communications technology.
iCentre is managed by Singapore's high tech business incubation specialist KR Consulting, a business unit of National University of Singapore, who brings a wealth of expertise into the design of a tailor made incubation programme for Brunei companies.
Through its incubation programme the iCentre provides small businesses with the entrepreneurship training, mentoring and marketing support they need in order to grow successfully.
The iCentre is equipped with fully wired plug-and-play work spaces which can accommodate up to 16 full-time and 5 virtual small companies at one time.
It also provides common office facilities including meeting rooms, a boardroom, an auditorium, as well as a cafeteria.
